I will be the first to admit that I didn’t want the boat. I didn’t think we needed one. Hubby must have talked about it for a full year before showing up with a 14 foot aluminum in our backyard. He was sooo happy with his purchase. You should have seen his face – that big smile stretching from ear to ear, he could barely contain his excitement. I couldn’t even pretend to be mad at him.
Turns out I love it. There really is nothing to do on the boat. There isnt a pile of laundry staring at me, there isn’t a sink full of dishes, there isn’t a garden that needs tending or a house that needs mending. There’s nothing to do but to enjoy the view.
Hubby calls this trolling/jigging/fishing. I call it relaxing.
I’ve never owned a boat, and neither did my parents, but for me, fishing from a boat is heaven. Fabulous photo!

We didn’t spend any time on water when we were kids. Perhaps that’s why I was hesitant. And you are absolutely right – it is heaven ๐ Thanks for the compliment ๐

Not much better than being on the water. We love our boat too. ๐

So true! I can’t wait til the kids are a bit bigger so we can try some kayaking. How old were your kids when you first took them out?

They were pretty young, maybe 7 or 8. On the lake at first and progressed up to some Swift water now, even class I rapids here and there. Theyโre pretty good now, but havenโt tried them on a serious river…yet. ๐

I sold my boat for a camper – worst decision ever. Enjoy

They kind of go together, don’t they? We were just commenting we wouldn’t know what to do at a campground without water…

Thatโs a fact – on the water is way better than sitting in a camper all day ๐

We had a boat and while i loved being out, it was a lot of work and expense so we finally gave it up. You know what they say, better to have a FRIEND with a boat LOL!!! Lovely capture!

Haha! I know exactly what you mean since we are the friend with the boat ๐ Thanks for the compliment ๐

It sounds idyllic. I always wanted the freedom to just float away, but my more practical other half isn’t so sure. ๐ ๐

It is freedom ๐ But you always have to return to land at some point. A look at it like a four hour long vacation from reality. You leave your troubles at the shore ๐

Extremely so! The sound of the water, the boat gently rocking from side to side…it’s like a rocking chair for adults ๐
