Company is coming! Quick! Clean the house!
Yep, that’s where we are at as the weekend draws near. I decided (or maybe I finally admitted to myself) that I hate cleaning. HATE IT. We don’t spend much time indoors during the summer. Heck, we even cook and eat outside. And now I am in a race to clean the cobwebs that appeared since spring.
Hubby busted me on the deck last night. “What are you doing out here all by yourself?” (implying I was hiding from him and the kids…which I kinda was.)
Me: Waiting for a hummingbird…
It was soooo worth it.

I’m the exact same way: scurrying about in a panic to tidy up when company is coming. I’m also happier watching hummingbirds. 🙂

I can imagine it must have required a lot of patience.

And quiet…that’s why I’m left the kids inside. 😊

Amazing photo!
I usually get caught out when my parents come over – Mum has a habit of unexpectedly poking her nose into my bedroom, which is where I chucked all the mess from the living room…

Haha! That’s usually what our spare bedroom is for…but my brother is coming so I had to do some quick shuffling of stuff into the closet. Hopefully that won’t stick their nose in there. 😉

I’m with you- I hate it too! We had viewers coming this weekend so it was necessary, but I’d much rather watch hummingbirds. 🙂 🙂

Beautiful! So worth the wait…I remain jealous of that lens you have and your gift for capturing stunning shots! Show your guests your photos and they won’t even notice the cobwebs!

Thank you Deb. It has turned into a bit of a habit for me. I figure the house will be clean in the winterm when there is nothing better to do 😉

This is SO interesting… just day before yesterday we were sitting on our deck and a humming bird came to visit. We don’t have a feeder, it just came onto the deck and hovered for a bit then headed onward.
Now about the cleaning. It’s always been the bane of my existence. Even when I was a kid, it took constant nagging from my mother to clean up my room. And just like you, when company was coming, she’d be scurrying around, dragging all of us into the fray, so the house would be presentable. Which is why, now, in my elder years, I decided that hiring a cleaning crew was just the treat I needed. They come once a month and give the house a great cleaning, and in between visits, I keep up on doing the kitchen and bathrooms. Or at least the counters in these rooms. So the work isn’t quite so odious.
If I could just get a cook in here, life would be ideal. 🙂

Thats so cute that the hummingbird came to check you out. 😊You know it’s really great to know that I am not the only one that doesn’t like cleaning. It never has been my Forte and probably never will be. I think I need bigger closets, or less stuff…Haven’t decided yet 😊 Now for the cooking…wouldn’t you know that hubby has really stepped up in that regard. I discovered that if I am busy outside he will generally start supper…it helps that he has a faster metabolism and gets hungry sooner I think. So the garden has been a bit of a salvation from the kitchen for me. I just don’t know what I will do when winter comes..Thanks for the conversation today Fimnora. Always a pleasure!
